Maximizing Results - Understanding Active Ingredient Concentration

Cutting back on crop management programs, such as nitrogen stabilization, may seem like a cost-saving measure, but it can have damaging effects when harvest comes around.

Nitrogen is the backbone of crop production, and protecting it can make the difference between an average and an outstanding yield. It's a smart move that ensures all hard work pays off at harvest. When it comes to optimizing crop yield, protecting the nitrogen investment isn't an option; it's a necessity.

Theres no shortage of products claiming to extend the life of nitrogen. But dont be fooled: just because these products share a designation like "nitrogen stabilizer" doesnt mean they all deliver the same performance.

LETS DIG INTO THE SCIENCE

While many products claim to be the next generation dual inhibitor, they fail to deliver an important aspect high active ingredient concentration.

NBPT and DCD are key active ingredients in dual inhibitors, and the amount of each directly correlates to how well a product will inhibit the loss of nitrogen.

Third-party research indicates that products that provide a DCD concentration load on finished urea fertilizer less than 1,500 parts per million (ppm), show no statistical difference from untreated urea.

Growers must be cautious when deciding on so called "dual inhibitors" that promise a lot but do not have an active ingredient concentration that is agronomically effective, leading to potential low crop performance, and reduced ROI. So, if proven above-ground nitrogen protection is what you need, ANVOL nitrogen stabilizer is a solution proven to defend against losses.

FOR EXTENDED NITROGEN PROTECTION, THE SOLUTION IS ANVOL

ANVOL nitrogen stabilizer features dual active ingredients, including NBPT and the Koch Agronomic Services (KAS) patented active ingredient, Duromide.

NBPT temporarily blocks the action of the urease enzyme, which can lead to nitrogen loss via volatilization. Duromide provides efficacy beyond the window of protection offered by NBPT alone. With the increased window of protection, there is less nitrogen loss to volatilization, and more nitrogen investment remains available for crop uptake.

The high active ingredient concentration in ANVOL lends itself to a lower treatment rate, allowing for increased operational efficiency in the field. Its also been proven to hold up in conditions that contribute to nitrogen loss, such as high soil moisture, warm temperatures, wind, soil acidity and high crop residues.

When compared to other urease inhibitor technologies, ANVOL is the most stable, longest-lasting urease inhibitor growers can count on to protect their nitrogen, so it goes where they want it to their crops.

At KAS, we strive to provide solutions to growers and retailers and help them understand how these solutions work, such as recognizing how the concentration of active ingredients affects nitrogen loss protection.

When the growers' goal is to get the best out of their crops, there is one element that is critical:  nitrogen. However, it's not just about applying nitrogen; it's about protecting nitrogen from losses to the environment.
